What is a woman? It's a question that has become one of the defining cultural debates in America—and now the Women’s National Basketball Association is facing renewed pressure over how that question applies to transgender athletes and women's sports.
In this Open Line Friday edition of The Endtime Show, Vince Stegall and Doug Norvell examine the WNBA's ongoing discussions surrounding transgender eligibility. The league currently states that only women may play in the WNBA, but it has not announced new eligibility rules addressing transgender or intersex athletes. The controversy has intensified following comments from Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham opposing transgender girls and women competing in female sports.
But that's only the beginning of today's conversation.
At Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, plans are moving forward for privately funded ablution stations designed to accommodate Muslim travelers who perform ritual washing before prayer. The facilities are expected inside the existing men's and women's restrooms in Terminal D. Similar accommodations already exist at other major American airports, but the DFW project is generating a larger debate about Islam, religious accommodation and America's changing culture.
Meanwhile, the appointment of Muslim attorney Assma Ali as a municipal judge in Benoit, Mississippi, has sparked another debate over Islam and religious liberty. Officials emphasize that Ali is an American attorney required to follow Mississippi and U.S. law, while critics are raising broader concerns about Islamic beliefs and their compatibility with American law and culture.
So where should Christians draw the lines?
How do we defend biblical truth about men and women while navigating a culture that increasingly rejects those definitions? How should Christians understand Islam while also defending the constitutional principle of religious liberty? And how do we remain grounded in Scripture when the culture around us is changing?
It's Open Line Friday, which means your calls take priority. From women's sports and Islam to Bible prophecy and the biggest issues of the week, bring your questions and join the conversation.
