People are saying the prophet Daniel predicted artificial intelligence, transhumanism and even humans merging with machines. But is that really what Daniel 2 says?

The question is becoming increasingly fascinating as technology advances. China has now approved an implantable brain-computer interface for commercial medical use—a device capable of translating neural signals into commands that can help certain patients with spinal cord injuries control a robotic glove.

Technology that once sounded like science fiction is becoming reality. And that's causing some Christians to look again at one of the Bible's strangest prophecies.

In Daniel 2:43, Daniel describes iron mixed with clay and says, “they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men.”

Some interpret the passage through the lens of artificial intelligence and transhumanism. Clay represents humanity. Iron represents machines or technology. The “seed of men” points toward human genetics or DNA. Put it together, they argue, and Daniel may have been describing a future attempt to merge humanity with technology.

It's fascinating.

But is it biblical?

In this episode of The Endtime Show, Vince Stegall and Doug Norvell go back to Nebuchadnezzar's prophetic image and examine Daniel 2 in context.

What does the iron actually represent? Why does Daniel introduce clay? Who are “they”? What does “seed of men” mean? And why does Daniel say these elements will mingle but never truly “cleave” together?

We'll examine the traditional interpretation of Daniel 2:43, the connection between humanity and clay elsewhere in Scripture, and why changing the meaning of iron from a kingdom to artificial intelligence creates an important interpretive problem.

But that doesn't mean technology has no place in Bible prophecy.

Could artificial intelligence, brain-computer interfaces and other emerging technologies eventually become tools of the global system described in Revelation 13? That's a different—and important—question.

Ultimately, however, Daniel's prophecy isn't about the triumph of technology. It points toward the collapse of human kingdoms and the establishment of a Kingdom that “shall never be destroyed.”
