Will Catholics help make the Third Temple possible? A new development in Jerusalem raises a fascinating question about the future of the Temple Mount and Bible prophecy.
Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, has launched a permanent interfaith initiative called “Within Your Gates: The Forum for the Universal Vocation of Jerusalem.” Developed with the University of Notre Dame's academic center in Jerusalem, the forum brings together voices from different religious traditions to discuss Jerusalem, reconciliation, peace and its future.
In this episode of The Endtime Show, Vince Stegall and Doug Norvell examine what this surprising development could mean through the lens of Bible prophecy.
Vatican reporting describes an effort to develop an “alternative narrative” shared among different religious traditions concerning Jerusalem's universal mission. Pizzaballa has described earthly Jerusalem as becoming an image of heavenly Jerusalem and a sign of universal reconciliation and peace.
So what could Catholic-led interfaith dialogue possibly have to do with the Third Temple?
Revelation 11 describes a future Temple of God, an altar and worshippers—but also says the outer court is “given unto the Gentiles.” Endtime has long taught that this could point toward some type of future sharing arrangement on the Temple Mount.
We're not saying Catholics are currently planning to build the Third Temple. They aren't. We're asking whether growing interfaith cooperation surrounding Jerusalem could eventually help create the conditions in which Jewish Temple worship and Muslim access to the Temple Mount coexist.
At the same time, Jewish interest in the Temple Mount is increasing. Jewish visits recently reached a reported annual record, while the Temple Institute continues preparing vessels, garments and procedures associated with future Temple worship. Four potential red heifers also remain under observation, although their final halachic qualification has not been determined.
Then there are Revelation 13, 17 and 18, which Endtime has historically connected with a powerful end-time religious system possessing enormous international influence.
Could these developments eventually converge?
Join Vince Stegall and Doug Norvell as we connect Catholics, the Vatican, Jerusalem, the Temple Mount and the Third Temple—and examine what Bible prophecy says we should be watching next.

How much of the Bible is prophecy? Nearly one in every four verses—1,817 predictions across more than 8,000 verses. That’s about 27 percent of Scripture. And it doesn’t begin in Revelation. It starts in Genesis. Prophecy isn’t only about the end times. It’s God declaring the end from the beginnin...
