Could something being planned for Jerusalem in 2033 eventually set the stage for one of the most important events in end-time Bible prophecy?

In this episode of The Endtime Show, Vince Stegall and Doug Norvell examine Pope Leo XIV's call for Christians around the world to journey together toward 2033—the approximate 2,000th anniversary of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ—with Jerusalem envisioned as a potential gathering point.

But to understand why this caught our attention, we have to go back 1,700 years.

In A.D. 325, Roman Emperor Constantine convened the Council of Nicaea, bringing Christian bishops together as theological division threatened unity within the Roman Empire. Seventeen centuries later, Pope Leo returned to Nicaea with leaders representing a broad spectrum of Christianity and pointed toward renewed Christian unity. Now the Pope has called for “all the Christian denominations of the world” to journey toward 2033 together.

For students of Bible prophecy, the parallels raise extraordinary questions.

Revelation 13 describes political and religious authority eventually working together, including a religious figure who performs great signs and directs worship toward the Beast. Revelation 17 pictures a religious system riding a political beast. And Jesus warned in Matthew 24 about the future Abomination of Desolation standing in the holy place immediately before the Great Tribulation.

For decades, Irvin Baxter and Endtime Ministries taught about the future convergence of world government and world religion and the role a powerful religious leader could play in the events surrounding the Antichrist.

Could today's movement toward worldwide Christian unity eventually become part of that prophetic structure?

And imagine the implications if a future Temple were standing in Jerusalem while the world was already focused there for an unprecedented religious gathering.

We are not predicting that the Abomination of Desolation will occur in 2033. Scripture does not give us that date.

But the similarities to a prophetic scenario Endtime has watched for decades are too significant to ignore.
