Is cash slowly disappearing—and what happens when more of our money becomes digital?

Today we're doing something unusual on The Endtime Show: we're opening the phone lines on a Thursday.

Samuel O'Brien of True Gold Republic joins us as Europe moves toward major changes involving cash, cryptocurrency and central-bank digital money.

Beginning in July 2027, new European Union rules will establish a €10,000 limit on cash payments involving businesses and professional transactions. Private person-to-person transactions are not covered by that particular EU-wide limit, but individual countries may impose lower limits.

At the same time, regulated crypto providers will face additional identification and monitoring requirements, while the European Central Bank continues developing a potential digital euro.

And another major development has already arrived.

The ECB has launched Pontes, infrastructure allowing financial institutions to settle tokenized transactions using central-bank money. Pontes is not the retail digital euro consumers could eventually use for everyday purchases, but it raises an important question: Is Europe building the financial infrastructure first, before the average citizen ever begins using a digital euro?

The ECB says a future digital euro would complement cash, protect privacy and would not be programmable money. So what protections would need to exist to ensure those promises survive future governments and policymakers?

We'll also discuss why central banks themselves have been accumulating physical gold, the difference between physically owning precious metals and having electronic exposure through funds or ETFs, and what these changes could mean for the future of money.
