The communists took over China in 1949. The leader of China, Chiang Kai Shek, fled to Formosa and established Free China, which also became known as Taiwan. China still claims to be the rightful owner of Taiwan even though she has not ruled China for over 120 years. China says Taiwan must unite with the mainland, even if it has to be done by force. This is one of the most dangerous conflicts on the planet. Will it someday erupt into a major war?
